IG Review: Broker Complaints Collide With Mixed Regulation Signals
Abstract:A 2025 user complaint alleges IG Group blocked trading and withdrawals before deducting USD 271,373.40, while WikiFX records show mixed regulation statuses including revoked and unverified entries. The danger is not a simple bad review—it is a funds-access dispute sitting beside serious regulatory anomalies and clone warnings.

A trader says the screen went from normal trading to a dead end. In a December 2025 review, the user alleged that after registering with IG Group on August 29, 2025, trading and deposits initially worked, but by October 28 they could no longer use any trading account to trade or withdraw.
The balance, according to the complaint, stood at USD 108,208.70. Then came the shock: the user said IG later deducted USD 271,373.40, leaving the account at negative USD 163,164.70. Their demand was blunt: return the deducted funds and allow withdrawal.
This is the kind of complaint retail traders fear most. Not a losing trade. Not market volatility. A sudden blockade around account access, withdrawals, and funds.
IG Regulation Reality Audit: Active Licenses, Revoked Records, and Unverified Status
Our investigation reveals a complicated regulation picture. IG is not a small unknown name. It has legal official websites listed as `ig.com/en`, `ig.com/zh`, and `ig.com/cn`, an AAA influence rank, and a WikiFX score of 8.26.
But the regulatory record is not clean across every entry. Some licenses are marked active. Others are revoked. One is unverified. That matters because retail traders often see a famous broker name and stop checking the fine print.
| Regulator | License Type | REAL STATUS |
|---|---|---|
| Australia ASIC | IG MARKETS LIMITED — No. 000220440 | Revoked |
| UK FCA | IG MARKETS LIMITED — No. 195355 | Regulated |
| New Zealand FMA | IG MARKETS LIMITED — No. 18923 | Revoked |
| Singapore MAS | IG ASIA PTE LTD — number not published | Regulated |
| Japan FSA | IG Securities Co., Ltd. — Kanto Finance Bureau No. 255 | Regulated |
| US NFA | TASTYFX LLC — No. 0509630 | Unverified |
| South Africa FSCA | IG MARKETS SOUTH AFRICA LIMITED — No. 41393 | Revoked |
| UAE DFSA | IG Limited — No. F001780 | Regulated |
| UK FCA | IG Index Limited — No. 114059 | Regulated |
| Australia ASIC | IG AUSTRALIA PTY LTD — No. 515106 | Regulated |
| New Zealand FMA | IG AUSTRALIA PTY LTD — No. 684191 | Regulated |
| Germany BaFin | IG Europe GmbH — No. 10148759 | Regulated |
This table does not say every IG entity is unsafe. It says traders must identify the exact legal entity, jurisdiction, and website before depositing. In Forex and CFD trading, the name on the license matters.
The risk is amplified by official regulator warnings about clones. Spain‘s CNMV warned on July 8, 2024 that `www.finance-ig.com`, `financeig.com`, and FINANCE IG were unauthorized clones and unrelated to IG Europe GmbH’s registered Spanish branch and `www.ig.com`. The FCA also issued warnings about clone entities using names or details connected to IG Markets Limited, including ICT Market 24 in 2023 and Wig Markets in 2018.
IG Login and Account Access Complaints Exposed
The most serious 2025 complaint was not framed as a password problem. It was framed as account paralysis. The user said they could not use any trading account and could not withdraw from any trading account while customer service cited a compliance review.
That distinction matters. A broken IG login can be technical. A blocked account with funds inside becomes a much bigger risk for ordinary traders, especially when the review drags on and the user says no clear inquiry was sent to them.
Another 2025 complaint from China claimed withdrawal was delayed and the account was going to be closed without payout. An Indonesian-language complaint in February 2025 alleged the user could not withdraw funds and that Rp 42,000,000 was lost after repeated explanations were given.
These allegations are not isolated in theme. Across 2024 complaints, several users described withdrawal failure, repeated extra-payment demands, VIP-upgrade conditions, card verification obstacles, and customer service delays.
Visual Evidence From Recent IG Review Complaints
The December 2025 complainant attached three images to support the allegation of blocked withdrawals and major account deductions.

There were also positive 2025 posts. A Nigeria-based reviewer called IG a “Top Tier Broker” and described it as fully licensed with more than 20 years of experience. A Thailand-based user praised the app experience. An Argentina-based user called it ideal for beginners.

That contrast is important. IG has supporters. But praise does not erase withdrawal complaints. It only makes due diligence more urgent.
How the Trap Can Form Around a Forex Broker Name
A strong brand can protect traders, but it can also attract copycat operators. Regulators have already warned that unauthorized entities used IG-linked names, websites, or details to appear legitimate.
For a retail trader, the danger often starts with a familiar name. The website looks close. The representative sounds confident. The platform mentions Forex, CFDs, VIP status, or special withdrawal channels.
Then the conditions change. Some complaints describe being asked to pay more to unlock withdrawals. Others mention tax, green channel fees, exchange-rate fees, VIP upgrades, bonus repayment, or verification hurdles.
Our investigation found that IGs official profile includes Forex, precious metals, and CFDs, with MT4, MT5, and proprietary mobile platforms. It lists two account types: DMA and standard. There is no minimum deposit requirement, and maximum leverage is shown as 1:200.
Those features may look attractive. But attractive terms cannot replace withdrawal certainty. If a trader cannot recover funds, platform quality becomes secondary.
Customer Service: The Silent Pressure Point
One 2024 complaint from Cyprus praised the platform but called customer service “genuinely shocking” for a large company. The user said multiple emails were ignored and small account changes were refused.
The official service profile says contact is available through phone, email, and social channels, but waiting times may be long. For an account under review, long waiting times can become financial pressure. Every day without a clear answer increases fear.
The December 2025 complainant said they waited one month after being told the compliance department was reviewing the account. Then they reported a large deduction. For traders, that is the nightmare sequence: silence, restriction, then loss.
Key Red Flags Traders Should Not Ignore
- Revoked regulatory records appear under Australia ASIC, New Zealand FMA, and South Africa FSCA entries.
- Unverified status appears under the US NFA-related record.
- WikiFX records note 43 user complaints in the past three months.
- Multiple complaints allege withdrawal failure, account restrictions, or extra-payment conditions.
Is IG Broker Safe for Retail Traders?
The answer is not simple. IG has multiple regulated entities, official legal websites, and a long operating history. Some users report stable trading and good product coverage.
But the risk signals are too serious to ignore. A broker review must weigh both sides: the official licenses and the lived experience of users who say their funds were blocked.
Before depositing with any IG-related platform, verify the exact URL, the exact company name, and the exact license number. Do not rely on a logo. Do not rely on a chat agent. Do not send additional money to release your own money unless the requirement is verified through the official regulated entity.
Final Verdict: IG Review Shows a Broker Name Traders Must Verify Hard
IG is a major Forex and CFD name, but major does not mean risk-free. The record contains active regulation, revoked records, unverified status, regulator clone warnings, and serious withdrawal complaints.
For everyday traders, the message is clear. If funds are already inside, document everything and escalate through official channels. If funds are not yet inside, slow down. In this broker environment, verification is not optional—it is your first line of defense.
